Welcome to Matala Crete - the place of spectacular sunsets, a small fishing village where the caves became a paradise for the "hippies" in the 70's. The hippies are missing, but Matala magic still flows and the village has been spruced up - well done!
We are very excited for having the opportunity to guide you in Matala Crete, Greece and in our hotel. We believe that Matala is one of the most beautiful places on Earth, and we are really happy to be here.
We speak Greek, English and also understand a little German. The best part of our job is the opportunity we have to meet people from many different countries. We often organize "International" nights where people cook something traditional from their home country and we share it all together with good wine and a lot of fun. For all of you planning your next vacation to the magical place of Matala, Matala Dimitris Hotel is waiting to accommodate you for one of the most enjoyable holidays of your life, through a family and friendly environment.

Knossos MuseumOne hundrent years ago King Minos and Knossos were justnames in the myths and legends of the ancient Greeks.
Then in 1900 AD Arthur Evans began to dig on a hill called \"Kefala\" just behind Heraklio and discovered the lost civilization of the Minoas.
The Palace of Knossos stands today a tribute to the vision of this pioneering archaeologist ready to amaze the visitor.

Samaria Gorge-The eazy wayIf you dont fancy the full walk but you still like to experience some of the magic of the Samaria Gorge, then go to the Easy Way. A bus riding along the dramatic south coast takes us to Chora Sfakion from where the ferryboat will carry us to Agia Roumeli at the foot of the Gorge.
